On the fatal day of 14 May 1610, Henri IV rose at dawn, having slept badly. He was preoccupied, even agitated. He was reported to have said, holding his forehead, "My God, I have something in there that troubles me mightily." In that month of May 1610, Henri did not lack for worries.
